On November 10 and 11, the CM will tour Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi and Virudhunagar. Review of irrigational works, progress made in livestock schemes and the ongoing construction of highway projects are also to be reviewed during the visits. The Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the proposed new veterinary medical college at Udumalpet in Tirupur district.
The visits were initially scheduled in October, but due to the demise of Chief Minister Palaniswami’s mother, the district tours were postponed, officials said.
Again, in December a serious of district wise tours are in the pipeline. Palaniswami had already completed the first round of district tours covering north and central Tamil Nadu. “With just five months to go for the AIADMK government to fulfil its poll promises and budget announcements ahead of the next year model code of conduct, the administrators have been instructed to complete all the pending projects before December 31,” an informed official said.
According to AIADMK headquarters sources, the CM during his official tour will also interact with the district secretaries and the newly appointed office-bearers. Couple of party functions where cadres from other parties joining the AIADMK had also been planned and the CM’s visit will be like a counter to a preliminary campaign started by the DMK leader MK Stalin, sources said.
