Mythili alias Sachu (45), the survivor, who is housed in a Home care Centre at Nagercoil, was offered a smartphone and monetary aid, sources said. The DSP on Sunday counseled the survivor to build up on her talents to earn a livelihood. Unable to bear the loss of sole breadwinner Vadivel Murugan, a goldsmith who lost work due to COVID-19 lockdown and her father, she, her mother and elder sister committed suicide on September 15 at Nainarkulam tank due to abject poverty as they had nothing even to give him a funeral. But in the attempt, Pankajam (70) and elder sister Mala (46) died. Mythili was rescued and counseled to be positive and undergo training in tailoring to earn a livelihood. In an effort to enable her the DSP offered her a smartphone and handed it over to her in the home.
