New COVID cases further decrease to touch 1,819 in TN

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu continued to go down on Sunday, with the State adding 1,819 fresh cases. On Saturday, it was 1,912 new cases. Deaths linked to the pandemic have also gone down to 12.

Chennai

The number of cases continue a declining trend in Chennai with 502 cases on Sunday, while 171 cases were reported in Coimbatore and 123 cases in Chengalpattu. The other districts recorded less than 100 cases.

A total of 12 deaths were notified on Sunday, all of whom had comorbid conditions. Five of these were in Chennai, while Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Vellore and Cuddalore added one each. With this, the COVID-19 toll in the State has reached 11,478.

At least 2,520 more persons were discharged from hospitals after treatment, taking the total number of discharges to 7,30,272. Currently, there are 16,441 active cases out of the total 7,58,191.

Meanwhile, the number of samples and persons tested on Sunday came down to 65,053 and 64,213 respectively.
