Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar, who recently jumped ship from Congress to BJP, met with an accident Wednesday morning while on her way to participate in BJP’s ‘Vel Yatra’.
The BJP leader tweeted that the accident occurred when a tanker rammed into her vehicle near Melmaruvathur in Tamil Nadu. She escaped unhurt. She further stated that the police are investigating the mishap and questioning his driver so as to rule out foul play.
“With your blessings and God’s grace, I am safe. Will continue my journey towards Cuddalore to participate in VelYaatrai. Police are investigating the case. Lord Murugan has saved us. My husband’s trust in him is seen,” Khushbu tweeted, sharing pictures of her damaged car.
The BJP is preparing itself for 2021 assembly elections by organising various programmes, including the controversial Vel Yatra. Khushbu Sundar was on her way to participate in one of the campaigns,
Over the past few weeks, the Vel Yatra could not kickoff as planned as the state government denied permission and arrested the BJP leaders when they tried to defy the orders.
In a blunt message to its ally BJP, the ruling AIADMK said it would not allow the former's 'Vel Yatra' and permit attempts towards what it called 'politics of vote bank' based on religion.
At a time when the BJP is struggling hard to conduct its scheduled Vel Yatra in the state and the strain it had on the ruling alliance, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Tamil Nadu on November 21.
Kushbu who was Congress national spokesperson resigned from the primary membership of the party in OCtober protesting against what she called some leaders "dictating terms" and "suppressing" her.
