University Grants Commission (UGC) has squarely brushed aside question of cancelling arrear exams in the Madras High Court.

The case was heardafter it was adjourned in October.

UGC hasn't withdrawn from its previous stance to conduct exams with safety protocols in place.

In its guidelines on April 29, UGC did facilitate provisions of online exams as well in the prevailing covid conditions.

AICTE took strong opposition denouncing Anna University's decision to go according to government's plan to rescind arrear exams with exception to the final year students, and promote those students.

Madras High Court has given its nod to hear both the petition to stop cancellation of exams and petition calling for postponement of arrear exam results given the case being in court.

The High Court adjourned hearing of both the cases to November 20.
