Udhayanidhi is scheduled to participate in a marriage function in Tiruchy and Thanjavur on Friday and the party youth wing led by the MLA Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has decided to give him a grand reception in Tiruchy which would be a show of strength programme.

The DMK youth wing secretary would meet voters directly, unlike his father cum party president MK Stalin who has been meeting only his party workers through video calls since the lockdown in March. If sources in the party are to be believed, Stalin junior could spend a little over three months on the trail with intermittent breaks.

The actor-politician launches his poll campaign amid speculation in the party circles that the party president and his advisors were against him actively engaging in poll works.

Sources close to Udhayanidhi said that he has scheduled a 100-day programme in which he would cover all the 234 Assembly segments across the state. Though they have yet to get the permission for the rally from the government, the preparations for the tour is being carried out. Udhayanidhi was said to have recently engaged a senior Tamil journalist to chalk out his own plans for the 2021 Assembly polls.

DMK insiders unwilling to be quoted said the youth wing secretary was not favourably disposed to working with poll analyst Prashant Kishor’s I-PAC (Indian Political Action Committee), which was against the conspicuous involvement of the junior ahead of the Assembly election.
