Their visit comes after M Kumar, 38, a cattle trader claimed that he was forced to vacate his own house by caste Hindus in his neighbourhood. The State Human Rights Commission took suo moto cognizance of the incident.
In a further development, the residents from the colony came to the Collectorate alleging that Kumar has been leveling baseless allegations of caste discrimination. “It was after he tried to commit an offence on November 7, the other residents took up the issue with Kunnathur police. Following this Kumar vacated the house on his own,” they said.
