60 medical seats allotted under special category, general counselling tomorrow
All candidates under the differently-abled category and children of servicemen received seats in medical colleges across the State on the third day of counselling at Jawaharlal Nehru Outdoor Stadium here on Saturday, said officials from the Directorate of Medical Education.

“All candidates under the differently-abled category and children of ex-servicemen received seats in today’s medical counselling. To speed up the process, we had processed the certificates of those with benchmark disabilities and children of sportspeople on Friday itself,” said R Narayanababu, director of medical education.
A total of 70 candidates were called for counselling, with 64 attending and six absentees, and 60 seats were allotted. Four candidates are on the waitlist.
In total, 11 children of ex-servicemen were given seats, with ten in MBBS courses and one in BDS courses. There were eight children of sportspeople who received seats, with seven picking MBBS and one BDS. All the 41 children with benchmark disabilities got seats in MBBS courses today.
In preparation for the general medical counselling, commencing on Monday, resources have been allotted to accommodate a larger number of people while pertaining to social distancing norms, added Narayanababu.
