76 sovereign, 1 kg silver looted from financier’s house

A home financier in Thanjavur lost 76 sovereign jewels and one kg silver as miscreants looted his house early on Monday when he was out to attend the funeral of his father-in-law.

Jeba Rathinam, a resident of Nadimuthu Nagar in Thanjavur and running a finance firm in the same location. He went to attend the funeral of his father-in-law Vaithilingam at Ponnamaravathi in Pudukkottai district 10 days ago and had returned only late on Sunday.

He was shocked to see the door of the house broken on his return and soon rushed inside to find that 76 sovereign jewels and one kg of silver missing from the safe.

He immediately complained to Thanjavur Tamil University police who pressed fingerprint experts into the probe on Monday morning. The police secured the CCTV footage in the area. Further investigations are on.
