While the Nivar cyclone landfall had spared the Delta region, yet another cyclone which has formed in the mid sea is expected to target the region especially between Nagapattinam and Thanjavur coastal region on December 2.
Meanwhile, over 5000 fishermen who had ventured into sea from Nagapattinam district have been asked to return at the earliest. The fishermen had gone fishing from Friday evening after the Nivar landfall. Sources said that there are 5100 country boats from Nagapattinam ventured into sea while in Pudukkottai district as many as 250 mechanized boats and 1500 country boats have gone for fishing. Since the possibility of the cyclone, the fisheries department has been issuing alerts to the fishermen and many of them had started for the shore from Saturday evening.
According to officials, the fishermen were asked to return at least by Sunday as the weather condition would turn worse in the coming days.
