A 15-year-old boy from Theni, who found some physical changes in him left the house and was living under the care of a transgender in Dindigul. In such a backdrop, two days back two transgenders from Tiruchy who were identified as Sathya (26) and Aparna (29) approached the boy and reportedly promised him to help him for his Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS) and took him to Tiruchy. On November 26 night, it is said, both Sathya and Aparna reportedly forced him into flesh trade. However, the boy escaped and informed Childline. Childline officials rescued him and the Child Welfare Committee lodged a complaint against the two transgenders. The police who registered a case arrested both Sathya and Aparna on Mon-day and produced them before the court which ordered them to be lodged in prison.
Subsequently, the police took them to the Special Pris-on for Women in Tiruchy. However, the prison staff reportedly refused to lodge them there. Meanwhile, on information about the arrest and the refusal to take them in the women’s prison, a group of transgenders reached the women prison premises and attempted to besiege it around 10.30 pm and raised slogans against the prison staff. The police held talks with the agitating transgenders and later, they both were allowed inside the women prison.
