Rejecting allegations of corruption raised by DMK against the state in highway tenders as borne out of political vendetta, the Chief Minister said that Stalin will soon be caught in the 2G spectrum scam.

“Then, Kalaignar TV got Rs 200 crore through the scam. Only to cover up their corruption, the DMK has been constantly leveling false charges against the AIADMK,” he said.

Stating that the AIADMK followed the e-tender system, which had no scope for corruption or favoritism, Palaniswami said the DMK however has overshot the estimated project cost several fold due to corruption.

“The DMK issued tenders for a project at Rs 100 crore. And, when it got over, the cost overshot to Rs 172 crore, almost 72 per cent more. In two other tenders too, the cost rose above the fixed amount by 68 per cent and 32 per cent. Normally, the project cost may increase by ten per cent from the estimate and not so abnormally. I have proof to prove that DMK was involved in corruption in issuing tenders and will submit them in court,” he said.

Listing out various allegations of corruption against DMK, including rice scam and Veeranam scam, the Chief Minister said that even Sarkaria Commission has once made a remark that DMK is a party that does corruption in a scientific manner. “For construction of the new secretariat building, the DMK made an agreement to build at Rs 230 crore. But the cost came to Rs 410 crore on completion. Why is Stalin hesitant to face this case legally and had obtained a stay order, the CM asked.

Referring to MP Kanimozhi’s ‘vidiyalai nokki Stalinin kural’ campaign visit in his Edappadi constituency, the Chief Minister said that she could not see any development works due to some defect in her vision. “She has proved that DMK is a family party. Even Udhayanidhi Stalin, who made his entry into the party, recently gets more significance than several other seniors. The DMK is a corporate company,” he added.

On the protest by PMK demanding 20 per cent reservation for Vanniyars, the CM said that alliance and principles of a party are different. “A caste census will be carried out and reservation will be given accordingly,” he added.
