Condemning the AIADMK regime for disregarding the pay hike demand of the doctors who have been offering selfless public service in controlling the spread of COVID-19, Stalin said the CM should come forward to immediately act on the demand of the doctors, execute GO 354 issued on October 23, 2009 for time-scale based pay hike and increase the salary of the state government doctors on a par with the Central government doctors without delay.

Though doctors join for the same basic salary in state and Central service, doctors on Central government service were getting promotion and pay hike soon, while state government doctors had to pitiably wait for long years for the same promotion and hike, the DMK president said, in a statement issued in this regard.

Claiming a Central government doctor holding MBBS degree gets pay hike in four years, while the state government doctor gets the same in 15 years, the DMK president said that it was atrocious that a CM has not understood even during the COVID times that a responsible government should immediately address the concerns of doctors engaged in the health care of crores of people. Describing the government doctors as frontline warriors saving people, unmindful of their health, Stalin alleged that the government has not paid the promised compensation to doctors who had sacrificed their lives during the pandemic and the government does not have proper records of doctors’ deaths during COVID times.
