One nation-one scheme-one language bid to destroy ‘unity in diversity’ fabric: Kamal
Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan continuing his campaign in the south on Wednesday, came out strongly against the idea of ‘One nation, one scheme, and one language’ during a meeting in Tirunelveli and added ‘one chappati’ and ‘one jippah’ in a sarcastic tone.

While people believe unity in diversity, which is our strength, the same concept is being dismantled. It cannot be tolerated any further. As the word ‘one’ was kept harping on, it all showed the dictatorship of the leader, who uttered it… Such politics need to be freed from the clutches of the religious fundamentalists and hence, Kamal said democracy is the wonderful tool to execute it. Further, he said religion should not divide people at any cost and such a thing should not be entertained in politics.
Unlike other parties, MNM would see the eyes of people and talk with them, but not their forehead. As for MNM, any symbol on forehead would not make difference. Ultimately, people should be the rulers and not ministers, who ought to be civil servants, but serving for their ‘masters.’ It’s not at all democratic.
As of now politics in Tamil Nadu is all about revenge and shifting blame on the other, but the MNM would engage in path finding actions for the welfare of people and show them a better way for their bright future.
Tamil Nadu as one trillion-dollar economy
Taking a dig at Centre, he said wrong policies resulted in slow down of the economy and unemployment is rampant.
He added that India is moving towards a position to emerge as the best in terms of corruption and Tamil Nadu is above all. Citing it as one of promises in the party manifesto, Kamal said MNM would strive to make Tamil Nadu as one trillion-dollar economy.
He then said the state government, which gives no room for honest officers to serve, should be dethroned. Referring to the recent move by Santhosh Babu, the Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, who took voluntary retirement, and joined MNM, Kamal said his party was gifted to have such an honest official and it’s a morale booster for us. Officials like Santhosh Babu, MK Surappa, Anna University Vice Chancellor and another IAS officer Sagayam should have to be praised for their honesty and it’s the nation’s duty. But these officials have been targeted by government as they will not tolerate corruption. He later addressed a meeting at Nagercoil.
