Tamil Nadu Logs 1,127 New Covid-19 Cases

Chennai added 338 new infections, Coimbatore 116 and the remaining was scattered across other districts.

Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded 1,127 new COVID-19 cases, taking the infection count to 8,05,777, while 14 people have succumbed to the virus pushing the death toll to 11,968. As many as 1,202 people have got cured from the contagion totalling to 7,84,117 so far, a bulletin said.

Active cases stood at 9,692. A total of 76,348 samples were tested today, taking the cumulative total to 1,33,87,049 specimens examined.

Chennai added 338 new infections, Coimbatore 116 and the remaining was scattered across other districts.

Ramanathapuram became the third district today to report 'zero' fresh cases after Perambalur and Ariyalur in the recent past.

On Saturday, Perambalur registered 'zero' fresh cases and four active cases, while Ariyalur added one new case to the district's overall active case tally of eight.

Active cases in Ramanathapuram as of Saturday stood at 25. Chennai continued to top the list of cases with 2,21,937 infections of more than 8.05 lakh in the state.

The metro also topped in the number of fatalities, accounting for 3,947 of the total 11,968 registered till date.

The bulletin said12 districts have added new infections in single digits, while 31 reported 'zero' fatalities. As many as 10 people who tested positive were returnees from other States including two from North East.
