Three popular faces among BJP probables for 2021

The party had assigned the state and district level leaders as constituency convenors and poll in-charges focussing on the Assembly seats in the state. The party has recently released the list of election in-charges and convenors for 228 Assembly seats internally.

“Nainar Nagendran, Sasikala Pushpa and Vanathi Srinivasan are likely to contest from the towns of Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Coimbatore. The party has begun the poll works early and we are confident of entering the state Legislative Assembly next year,” said an aspiring BJP candidate wishing not to be named.

The names of former IPS officer K Annamalai, BJP leader H Raja, BJP advocate wing secretary Paul Kanagaraj and state general secretary Karu Nagarajan are also making rounds for the constituencies of Kinathukadavu, T Nagar, Tiruvottriyur and Mylapore.

In the case of party president L Murugan, he is likely to contest in a reserve constituency in western Tamil Nadu or Chennai. BJP media coordinator ANS Prasad was also designated as Kolathur in-charge and the party workers conduced the first poll discussion meeting on Thursday.

“The party had identified the seats that will not suit for the saffron party and will not accept such seats from the AIADMK. If actor Rajinikanth allies with the BJP, then there will be some revision in the tentative list that is getting ready and if the actor goes alone, the BJP will go ahead contesting in the identified seats,” said another senior BJP functionary.

For Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore the list of MLA aspirants is encouraging and in Chennai, the party is likely to approach the ruling party seeking T Nagar, Mylapore and Alandur seats keeping H Raja, Karu Nagarajan and KT Raghavan in mind as the potential candidates.

This is the first time such an elaborate list was prepared to cover the length and breadth of the state, the BJP insider said. The list if you examine closely will look like a tentative candidate list, the senior explained.
