While the world is receiving some sort of respite from covid-19 with inoculation, the contagion sent shockwaves with its mutated variation emerging from England and other European nations. This development came as a thorn to India and in particular Tamil Nadu's rapid recovery.
This led to India halting travel from UK from December 22 to 31.
The state and nation was put on high alert as a list of passengers from UK for the past 15 days is getting made. A pair of men and women came from UK to Coimbatore through Chennai on December 16 and 17.
All of them were tested negative at the airport, but they are under close watch if at all they show symptoms.
Deputy Director of Health Services G Ramesh Kumar said if the four people are tested negative again on Thursday they would be free to move after seven days.
Also he requested people to inform if they are wary of anyone returned from UK or other European countries recently on the district control number 1077.
The new strain named 'N501Y' is said to transmit over 70 percent of the existing strain, the silver lining being that it isn't any lethal than the current strain and the available vaccines haven't been proven ineffective on N501Y yet.
