TN records 945 fresh cases and 17 deaths

Tamil Nadu recorded 945 new cases of COVID and 17 more deaths on Wednesday. Three of the fresh cases were imported from other states.

This brings the total number of cases recorded in the State to 8,17,077, and there are 8,615 active cases. Chennai logged 275 fresh cases and 2,678 active cases on Wednesday.

Coimbatore had 91 new cases, while Chengalpettu had 48. Kancheepuram had 37, Tiruvallur 35 and Erode and Tirupur had 32 each.

Of the 17 deaths, eight were recorded in private healthcare institutions and nine were recorded in government hospitals. Three of them had no comorbid conditions. Chennai recorded seven deaths. The total number of deaths recorded so far currently stands at 12,109.

Nearly 1,060 patients were discharged following treatment, bringing the total number of recoveries in the state to 7,96,353. The recovery rate in the State currently stands at 97 per cent.
