On the second day of his campaign in Namakkal district, the Chief Minister met representatives of various tribal associations at Senthamangalam and assured them that the free power scheme will continue as such in the state.

“Stalin, who is least bothered about the poor people, has been spreading a web of lies on the free power supply scheme. But, the AIADMK which has been working towards the upliftment of tribal community and farmers will never drop such welfare projects,” he said.

Listing out various welfare projects introduced by the AIADMK government at Kolli Hills, the Chief Minister said that even during COVID-19 pandemic, the state government gave cash assistance to people. “But, DMK is a party which has not spent even a single rupee for the welfare of people,” he added.

“Former chief ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa rolled out various development works, including road facilities in hills. Some of these projects are still going on as it requires time to obtain clearance from the Centre for laying roads in the hill regions,” he said.

The members of tribal communities urged the Chief Minister to improve medical facilities in the Kolli Hills. They also wanted the government to set up a warehouse facility to store pepper and coffee planted in the hills. On hearing their pleas, the Chief Minister promised to fulfill their demands.

Meanwhile, at Tiruchy the Chief Minister recalled how the people in the state were affected due to acute unscheduled power cuts during the earlier DMK rule and the AIADMK government was very particular to rectify it and at present the state enjoys surplus power supply.

Speaking on the Cauvery-Godavari link project Chief Minister Palaniswami said it would definitely materialise after the AIADMK forms government soon after the Assembly polls.

“It (the river linking project) was the dream project of Amma (Jayalalithaa) and the government which has been functioning with her heavenly blessings would certainly materialize it,” said the Chief Minister while addressing people in his whirlwind political campaign at Musiri near Tiruchy.
