Condemning the Chief Minister for not cancelling the disciplinary action initiated against government employees and teachers affiliated to JACTO-GEO for holding protest demanding the fulfillment of nine demands, Stalin said that it was condemnable that the government has issued charge memo to 5,068 teachers and government employees who withdrew their strike and worked for the people even during COVID-19 times.
Recalling the controversial overnight sacking of lakhs of government staff during the 2001-06 AIADMK regime, Stalin described the DMK as a party which stood as a shield protecting the employees, “then and ever” and said the approach of the CM, who appealed for withdrawing the strike and initiated disciplinary proceedings after the withdrawal, was vindictive, which should be definitely avoided.
Claiming that the employees were not given promotion, annual pay hike and even denied retirement and post-retirement benefits owing to pending disciplinary action, the DMK president wondered what the CM would achieve by putting them through continuous hardship.
