Karti Chidambaram criticises 100 pc theatre-occupancy move, TN health secretary to review decision
Congress leader and Sivaganga MP Karti Chidambaram lambasted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for pandering to the interests of film business by allowing full occupancy in theatres. Karti told this could jeopardize people's health.

Upping his attack, he called the CM 'weak leader' and 'accidental CM' claiming he doesn't have the stature to take a stand on such crucial issues.
After the TN government permitted theatres to function with full occupancy, Health Secretary Radhakrishnan said during an interaction that he will discuss this decision with revenue department.
'I will consult the matter with the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. We will look at the Government of India's standard operating procedures (SOP)," stated the health secretary when asked about his views regarding the latest notification about the cinema halls.
Government announced full occupancy of theatres with an overall positive reception, not to exclude barbs from political leaders, select few from the film industry and caveats from medical experts.
