As DMK women’s wing secretary Kanimozhi took on the police en route to Pollachi in Coimbatore to lead an agitation, Stalin alleged in the “People’s Gram Sabha Meeting” at Royapuram in the city that the state police had attempted to stop Kanimozhi fearing that the DMK would expose the AIADMK regime’s misdeeds.

Accusing the police of turning away DMK women who came to participate in the Pollachi agitation, Stalin said that Kanimozhi had called him over the phone when the police stopped her. “I advised her to defy the police barricade. I asked our organising secretary RS Bharathi and senior advocate NR Elango to speak to the DGP. I told them that if they still deny permission, I will mobilise women across the state and organise protests. I told this over the phone because I knew that it would be taped and sent to the ruling party. They did (taped). They (govt) permitted the protest (in Pollachi) immediately,” he said.

AIADMK trying hard to protect Pollachi sex scandal accused, says Kanimozhi
DMK women’s wing secretary Kanimozhi said on Sunday that the AIADMK government is trying to protect the accused in Pollachi sex scandal and assured that the real perpetrators will be punished once the DMK comes to power.
Pointing out that the police had dissuaded the victims from fighting for justice by revealing their identity; Kanimozhi blamed the police for making little headway in the investigations after a case was registered in 2019.
“The police also revealed the name of the victim to prevent other women from coming forward to lodge complaints. It was only after DMK president MK Stalin raised the issue that the state ordered a CBI inquiry. The ruling party had so far protected K Arulanandham, an AIADMK student’s wing functionary to shield other party functionaries. They will all be punished once DMK comes to power and ensure that the victims get justice,” she claimed.
Kanimozhi also said that women are unsafe in Tamil Nadu and slammed the AIADMK government for increasing incidents of sexual assaults. She also mocked Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami being compared to Abraham Lincoln by asking, “How the Chief Minister who pledged the interests of the state could be compared to a leader who fought to eliminate slavery.” Earlier, the DMK leader resorted to a sit in protest on the Pollachi Main Road along with party men after police prevented her from proceeding towards the protest venue. Cadres from other alliance parties including CPI, CPI (M) and other parties took part in the protest.
