The animal's owner is currently treating it with herbs after veterinarians said they couldn't help fix the leg as the cut was too deep.

Anand, a 45-year-old resident from MGR Nagar near Palliagraharam in Thanjavur owns a bullock cart and one of the bulls went missing on Sunday morning. When Anand went looking for it, he could not trace it and until a neighbors spotted it lying near a field.

Anand soon rushed to the spot to find the bull bellowing and bleeding from one of its hind leg which was almost chopped off.

After asking around he found that the bull was grazing in a field owned by a Kamaraj. In a fit of rage, Kamaraj attacked the animal with an aruval and nearly chopped off its hind leg.

Unable to stand or rush to safety, the bull collapsed.

Anand rushed it to veterinarians who claimed the cut was too deep for them to treat or fix. Anand then took the bull back to his house and has been applying natural remedies to try and help the wound heal.

He has also lodged a complaint with the Nadukaveri police against Kamaraj and demanded action against him under the Act for prevention of cruelty to animals.
