Rs 3.9 lakh stolen from pvt bank ATM in Vellore

Ranipet district police have formed two special teams to trace the culprits who stole Rs 3.91 lakh from a private bank’s ATM on the outskirts of Arakkonam town here in the early hours of Friday.

The incident came to light when users who came to the ATM in the morning found the machine broken open with the cash missing. They immediately informed Arakkonam taluk police who informed bank officials and rushed to the spot.

The ATM located near a private college on the Tiruthani road neither had security personnel to guard it nor CCTV cameras. When asked how the machine was broken into as in all earlier such attempts the thieves were unsuccessful, officials revealed that the machine was cut into with welding equipment.

Meanwhile, the theft of cash from an ATM created a flutter in the town. Further investigations are underway.
