Tamil Nadu adds 789 COVID-19 cases to its tally

Continuing its gradual but steady decline in the number of new COVID-19 cases, Tamil Nadu recorded less than 800 cases on Tuesday.

However, death due to the infection went up marginally. On Tuesday, the State added 789 cases, taking the total number of cases to 27,16,421. 

Chennai reported the highest among districts, 120, closely followed by Coimbatore with 118. Erode recorded 75 cases and Chengalpattu 63 cases.

The test positivity rate (TPR) in Tamil Nadu remains at 0.8 percent, with Chengalpattu and Tirupur recording the highest of 1.4 percent. Chennai has a TPR of 1 percent. The State notified 15 deaths, taking the toll due to the pandemic to 36,311.
