Headmistress caste abuse row: NCSC notice to Tirupur Collector, SP

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has issued a notice to Tirupur Collector and Superintendent of Police seeking an explanation in connection with a headmistress abusing students on caste terms and forcing Dalit students to clean toilets.

As charges against the teacher were proved in an inquiry, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) R Ramesh placed Geetha, 45, the headmistress of Iduvai Government High School under suspension last week.

The CEO made a personal inquiry after a group of students raised a complaint against Geetha, who was working in the school for the last three years.

Taking suo-moto cognizance of the issue, the Commission had sent a notice to Tirupur Collector S Vineeth and Superintendent of Police G Shashank Sai seeking a report on the issue at the earliest.
