MADURAI: Several boats remained anchored in the shore. P Jesuraja, president, All Mechanized Boats Fishermen Association, Ramanathapuram district, said over the last three months over a hundred Tamil Nadu fishermen had been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on charges of trespassing into the island nation waters and seized nearly 25 boats. Such actions by the Lankan Navy continued unabated and the future looked bleak for the fishermen.

He thanked Chief Minister MK Stalin, who earlier announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh to each of the owners of mechanized boats seized by the Lankan Navy and Rs 1.50 lakh for each for the country boat owners.
