DVAC arrests Dy Tahsildhar, VAO for taking bribe for patta correction

TIRUCHY: The DVAC sleuths arrested a Deputy Tahsildhar and a VAO for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for patta correction in Tiruchy on Wednesday. According to DVAC, Lakshmi Natarajan on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the DVAC office alleging that she had applied for a correction in patta, which was in her husband’s name and for deleting the wrongly included survey number at Lalgudi Taluk Office, Tiruchy district. Prabakaran, Zonal Deputy Tahsildar, Pullambadi and Sathish, Village Administrative Officer, Muthuvathoor, Lalgudi, Tiruchy district demanded Rs.10,000 as bribe for processing her application. Following this, Lakshmi as instruced by DVAC met Sathish, Village Administrative Officer, who reiterated his earlier demand as per the instructions of Prabhakaran, Zonal Deputy Tahsildar, Pullambadi and received the bribe amount of Rs.10,000 from her. The DVAC team, which was lying in wait, caught them red-handed while accepting the bribe. Subsequently, the duo were arrested. Meanwhile, simultaneous raids at the houses of Prabakaran and Satish were also conducted.
