PMK objects to use of rummy to teach integers in Class 6 mathematics book
At a time when there is a demand to ban online betting games, especially rummy, the Class 6 mathematics book of the state government has a lesson on rummy.
Chennai: The PMK, which has been urging the state government to ban the online rummy has urged the state to remove the lesson from the next academic year. “It is shocking to learn that the Class 6 mathematics book in the lesson on integers uses rummy as example to teach the topic. The lesson on rummy will spoil the students,” said Anbumani Ramadoss, MP and PMK’s youth wing leader on Thursday. He also said that the objective of the lesson on integers is to teach students about numbers and when several other examples could have been used, the choice of rummy is bad. “The lesson will not teach numbers but only rummy,” said Anbumani. Mere removal of rummy from the lesson alone will not be sufficient but the picture of rummy should also be removed from the book in the next academic year, he added.
