NIA raids at 8 places linked to case of suspected ISIS links in TN

The NIA suspects that the accused has been trying to spread the ideology of ISIS and thus trying to overthrow the government to set up Islamic Caliphate in support of ISIS.

NIA officials conduct raid at Mayiladuthurai, in connection with an ongoing probe linked to a terror activity case

CHENNAI: NIA sleuths are carrying out raids and searches in at least 8 locations across Tamil Nadu, including 3 in Chennai, in connection with a case of suspected ISIS link registered agaist a man in Mayilduthurai on Thursday.

The case was initially registered by local police against Sadiq Basha, which was taken over by NIA , Chennai branch. This is the first case registered by NIA Chennai branch after it set up the branch office last year.

The NIA suspects that the accused has been trying to spread the ideology of ISIS and thus trying to overthrow the government to set up Islamic Caliphate in support of ISIS.

NIA takes over another TN case, suspecting ISIS link:

Sources said that 'Needur' Sadiq Basha alias ICAMA Sadiq Basha running an outfit called Khilafah Party of India and his associates, threatened police officials with a gun in Mayiladuthurai in February this year during a vehicle check.

Immediately after the incident in which Sadiq Basha threatened sub inspector Arivazhagan and his team with air pistol, the police team overpowered him and his associates Mohamed Ashiq from Coimbatore, Mohamed Ifran from Karaikal, Rahmath of Chennai and Jabahar Ali of Mayiladuthrai. At that time, police had also seized the metal air gun, one packet of pellet, 11 cricket stumps, iron rod, metal nanchacku, new hand cuff, hard disk and the vehicle (TN 07 BL 1446) in which they were travelling.

“Needur Basha has been in touch with ISIS organisation and various central agencies were monitoring his activities closely. After collecting all the evidence, the NIA has now taken over the probe,” an official noted.

The accused intended to the cession of a part of the territory of India and intended to disrupt the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India by forming an anti-national organisations namely Khilafah Party of India', 'Khilafa Front of India etc.
