Gang of six youth with lethal weapons arrested in Thanjavur

TIRUCHY: A gang of six persons, who were roaming around with lethal weapons with an intention to execute an offence was arrested in Thanjavur on Tuesday. Police received information from public that a gang has been moving at Thanjavur Over bridge, Railway Goodshed Road and Medical College Road in a suspicious manner with lethal weapons. Thanjavur South police rushed to the spot and on seeing the police, all the six attempted to escape. Policemen overpowered them and secured all. Police retrieved several weapons from them.The gang members were identified as Srinivasan (26) from Pookara Street in Thanjavur, Dinesh (25), Ashok (20), Manikandan (21), Naveen (20) all from the same area and Manikandan (33) from VOC Nagar. In further interrogation, police found that the gang had a quarrel while watching a movie recently and had planned to attack the opposite gang. The police registered a case against them and further investigations are on.
