TN govt focused on ensuring equitable growth in all dists: Stalin

COIMBATORE: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday said the State government is focused on ensuring equitable growth in all districts across Tamil Nadu.

“Industrial growth should not be concentrated only in Chennai or any other specific cities. All districts should witness an equitable growth and so, investor’s conclaves were organised in Western districts,” he said, while addressing a regional MSME’s meet in Tirupur on Thursday.

Further, Stalin said in the last 15 months, 221 MoU’s were signed attracting Rs 2.20 crore worth investments to generate more three lakh job opportunities. “They include 49 MSME’s which have come forward to invest Rs 1,300 crore. Also, 19 firms have invested Rs 1,522 crore and started production to provide jobs for 1,909 persons,” he said.

“The government is focused on the growth of MSME’s, which generate the maximum number of jobs, next to agriculture. Hence, the state government has been extending all assistance to MSMEs,” he said.

Accepting a demand from the MSMEs to include production of home textiles under the trust sector category to disperse investment grants, Stalin said that home textile production stands at Rs 8,000 crore, of which more than 4,000 crore is exported. “Inclusion of home textiles under the trust sector will benefit thousands of firms and lakhs of workers,” he said.

At the event, Stalin launched Tamil Nadu Credit Guarantee Scheme (Rs 100 crore) for MSME’s in collaboration with the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust Micro and Small Enterprises, Tamil Nadu Trade Receivables Discounting System and inaugurated Tamil Nadu Coir Business Development Corporation. He also laid the foundation for a worker’s hostel to be set up at Kurichi in Coimbatore and a factory complex for silver anklets in Salem.
