CHENNAI: DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi on Thursday said that Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami does not deserve to talk about the law and order situation in the state.

Taking exception to EPS’s statement about the Law and Order situation, Bharathi referred to Kodanad murder cum heist and said, “In which period did the murder take place in Kodanad estate? She made you crorepatis, MLAs and Ministers. You (EPS) could not protect even your own leader’s house. You do not have the right to talk about the law and order situation in the state.”

“When Kallakurichi incident happened, our CM was in hospital. Unlike EPS, who said that he learnt about the Thoothukudi shooting through television, our CM immediately dispatched the DGP and other officers to control the situation,” added Bharathi during an urgently convened press conference at DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam.

Responding to EPS’s allegation on shelving of his government’s projects, Bharathi said, “If we had such a narrow mindset, why would the government announce that it would celebrate Jayalalithaa’s birthday as a state function? We could have cancelled it with just a signature. We did not act with such a narrow mindedness.”

On the AIADMK opposing shifting of a bus terminus project in Coimbatore, Bharathi said, “we did not shelve any project of the previous government.”

On DMK members’ allegedly owning land near the revised site proposed for the bus terminus project, he said, “Let the court decide. We will abide by it. Court has the power to even dismiss government. He (EPS) is jealous of the DMK regime’s achievements and the grand reception offered to the CM in Coimbatore,” he added.
