Kancheepuram court orders seizure of 2 govt buses from Vellore depot
Following that the Kancheepuram district court ordered the transport department to pay a compensation of Rs 34 lakh to both families of the deceased. Since the compensation was not provided till date, on Friday, the accident tribunal ordered the seizure of two buses from the bus depot.
CHENNAI: The Kancheepuram court has ordered the seizure of two buses, which belong to the State Transport Department since they failed to pay compensation for two road accident victims that occurred in 2018. Chinnathambi of Vilivalam village in Walajabad died in a road accident after being hit by a government bus in 2018 and the same year, Muthu of Kancheepuram died in another road accident. Following that the Kancheepuram district court ordered the transport department to pay a compensation of Rs 34 lakh to both families of the deceased. Since the compensation was not provided till date, on Friday, the accident tribunal ordered the seizure of two buses from the bus depot. Based on the court order, in the evening, the officials seized them, and took them to the court premises. Both buses belonged to the Vellore bus depot.
