South Zone police provide mobile numbers to curb ganja menace

MADURAI: The South Zone police, trying to get a step ahead of ganja offenders, has introduced mobile phone numbers in all 10 districts, including Madurai.

Chief Minister MK Stalin is determined to curb the drug menace, directing the Department of Police to take a tough stance against drug offences and act sternly against the use of narcotics, South Zone Inspector General of Police Asra Garg said on Saturday.
To prevent drug abuse, Garg said cooperation from the public is essential and they could share such drug related information without hesitation to the police for necessary action. Hence, he urged the active participation of parents, teachers, employees, educationists, members of parent-teacher associations and the general public to curb drug use and prevent drug dealers, he said.
