CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded 482 new cases of COVID-19, including a case from Andhra Pradesh on Friday. Total number of cases reached over 35.69 lakh in the State. Chennai recorded 75 new cases, Coimbatore had 57 cases, Salem had 33 and Chengalpattu reported 31 cases. One more death was recorded. A 50-year-old woman from Krishnagiri tested positive on August 17. She had hypertension and was admitted to Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital on 29 August with complaints of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing. She passed away on September 1 due to COVID-induced pneumonia, H1N1 pneumonia and respiratory failure. Active cases stood at 5,056 with Chennai reporting the highest 2,161. Death toll reached 38,036.
