Stone pelting halts Vinayakar idol rally

VELLORE: The Vinayakar idol procession in Vaniyambadi was held up for nearly 45 minutes following stones falling on the crowd when the procession was passing through the Kaniyambadi Road on Friday evening.

The people taking part in the rally demanded that those responsible for the stone pelting be arrested and they refused to budge till action was taken by the police. Vaniyambadi town police filed a CSR based on a complaint given by one Vijay (26) of Amburpet area in Vaniyambadi town after which the procession continued on its way.

Investigations are underway on the incident.
