Talk to parents, suicide not solution, says Min to NEET aspirants

TIRUCHY: Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Thursday appealed to the students who failed in NEET to gain strength and interact with their parents and they can also call the helpline numbers for counseling as the suicide will never bring solution to any problem.

Speaking to reporters here, Minister Mahesh Poyyamozhi said, the pass percentage in NEET has come down this time. “While the state government has been initiating all sorts of legal fights against NEET, the students will continue to get coaching at the hi-tech training centres established by the government. Ultimately, our stand is medical admission without NEET and we continue to fight to achieve it,” the Minister added.

He also said that the students were not only given NEET coaching but also trained to cope up with the pressure resulting from the examination. The students are given counseling on time and training on mental strength for which each school has the career guidance cell and those who are mentally distressed can approach the counselors in the schools, he said.

This apart, the students can contact the helpline numbers and get counseling, he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister appealed to the students not to end their life, which would bring their parents eternal agony and the suicide would never bring any solution. “You leave not only the sorrow to the society but also the pain to the parents. Think about the parents before deciding anything negatively and interact with them,” he requested.

He pointed out a resolution against NEET with the support of all political parties has been handed over to the President and the Chief Minister MK Stalin who met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kerala has clearly insisted the stand against the NEET and said, “we will certainly win the battle.”
