Stalin stresses on coordination between ministers, secretaries

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday stressed the importance of coordination between the ministers and the concerned department secretaries, in a review meeting participated by the Secretaries of all departments, at Kalaivanar Arangam.

"I learnt that in some departments there is lack of coordination between the ministers and the secretaries of some departments on some occasions. I ask the secretaries that this should not happen in any department under any circumstance," said Stalin, in his address.

This was the fourth review meeting in which the secretaries of all departments participated. In the meeting, Stalin stressed the importance of coordinated work in all the departments.

"I am in contact with you (secretaries). Even the Ministers and the Chief Minister's office are in contact with you. This is coordination. When asked whether such coordination exists between you and your subordinates, such coordination does not exist in some departments. Because of the lack of coordination the schemes and the announcements are pending and could not be completed. You must hold regular consultation meetings with your subordinates and should go for filed visits to check the progress of schemes and announcements,” said Stalin.

He also asked the officials to give regular updates for the CM Dash Board. "It has been accepted across the globe that the CM Dash Board is a tool that is used to take decisions based on data and is a tool for good governance. While inaugurating the dashboard I have asked every department to update data related to them but it was brought to my notice that some departments do not show interest in updating the data. I ask the Secretaries to avoid such things and ensure the regular updates for the government to provide good governance," said the Chief Minister.

He further said that out of 1,680 announcements made in 2021-22, government orders (GOs) were issued for 1,580 announcements which takes it to approximately 94 per cent. “In 2022-23, 1,634 announcements were made. While carrying out the review meeting in June, this year, GOs were issued for only 23 per cent of the announcements, but as on September 12, GOs were issued for 57 per cent of the announcements, which takes it to 937 announcements out of total 1,634,” he added.
