75 life convict prisoners released across TN for good conduct

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Prisons department on Saturday released 75 life convict prisoners, who have completed more than 10 years of imprisonment, on account of their good behaviour.
Of the 75 persons, 22 were serving time in Central Prison Madurai while 13 from Central Prison-Puzhal were released too. Four prisoners from the Borstal school, Pudukottai and two each from special prison for women in Puzhal and Tiruchy were released too.
“On behalf of the DGP, Prisons and correctional services, the released prisoners were offered best wishes for their well being and reformed life,” an official release said.
Earlier this year, 21 life convicts were released prematurely on orders of the Tamil Nadu government under the state amnesty scheme. So far, 96 life convicts have been released prematurely.
