Inspector, 3 others held for bid to abduct AIADMK functionary

Four persons including a police inspector have been arrested for attempting to kidnap an AIADMK functionary in Tirupur on Sunday.

COIMBATORE: Four persons including a police inspector have been arrested for attempting to kidnap an AIADMK functionary in Tirupur on Sunday.

Police identified the accused as Anbalagan, 52, from Chengalpet, an Inspector in the technical division of Secretariat, who along with Rathinaraj, 33, Megala, 34, and Karthikeyan, 45 from Kanakkampalayam area, had attempted to kidnap Chandrasekar, 45, an AIADMK functionary from his house at Ayyampalayam near Perumanallur on Saturday afternoon. The four persons forced him into their car and tried to speed away.

However, the public nabbed the four men and informed the Perumanallur police, who arrived and took them into custody. Inquiries revealed that they had attempted to kidnap the victim over a financial dispute. Police arrested the four persons.
