Theni BJP functionary’s car damaged

MADURAI: The front windscreen of a car belonging to a BJP functionary MN Prabakaran was damaged in an attack by some miscreants at Chinnamanur in Theni district on Sunday midnight.

Theni Superintendent of Police Dongare Pravin Umesh inspected the spot and conducted an inquiry. Apart from shattered pieces of glass, the police also found bloodstains near the driver’s seat. It’s suspected that the miscreant could have broken the glass with bare hands, sources said.

Prabakaran usually parks his vehicle at that spot inside a school construction site. On Monday morning, when Prabakaran came to take this car, he found the front windscreen damaged. Based on a complaint, Chinnamanur police registered a case and began investigations. Four special teams have been formed to nab the accused. The police checked CCTV footages from nearby premises, but they were not clear.

Meanwhile, PC Pandian, BJP district unit president of Theni, submitted a petition to the SP seeking immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack on the vehicle and sought police protection for leaders of BJP, RSS and Hindu Munnani.

In Madurai, Keeraithurai police arrested Abuthahir (32) of Mahaboobpalayam in connection with the petrol bomb-hurling incident at the house of RSS functionary Krishnan at Mela Anuppanadi on Saturday evening. Already, two persons were arrested in connection with the same incident, sources said.
