Karur TNPL crane operator dies of cardiac arrest at work

A crane operator died after cardiac arrest, while he was on duty, at TNPL unit at Pugalur in Karur early on Friday. Kin suspect foul play and demanded compensation.

TIRUCHY: A crane operator died after cardiac arrest, while he was on duty, at TNPL unit at Pugalur in Karur early on Friday. Kin suspect foul play and demanded compensation. Arun Sudhan (32), a resident from Tiruvaiyaru working as a crane operator at TNPL unit went for night duty after 11 pm on Thursday.

While he was working, Arun Sudhan had developed chest pain and soon he was rushed to the first aid centre in the unit. After first aid, he returned to work and again he developed a severe chest pain at around 4 am on Friday. Soon he was rushed to a private hospital in Karur.

However, Arun Sudhan died on the way to the hospital. Subsequently, the body was sent to Velayuthampalayam GH. Meanwhile, his relatives, who assembled in front of the TNPL, claimed that he was not given proper first aid. They staged a protest and demanded action and compensation for the deceased. Karur police registered a case and are investigating.
