CHENNAI: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) on Sunday forecast heavy rain for several districts of Tamil Nadu for the next two days, due to the upper air circulation over the TN region. In addition, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for the same.
Due to the prevailing upper air atmospheric circulation over Tamil Nadu region, at least 26 districts - Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Kallakurichi, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Trichy, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur to get heavy rain for the next 48 hours.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature at weather stations in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 32 degree Celsius and 34 degree Celsius respectively.
The center warned fishermen not to venture into the sea till October 17. As squally weather with wind speeds reaching 40 kmph -50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over the Comorin area (Kanyakumari).
According to RMC, during the last 24 hours, the highest amount of rainfall recorded in Kanyakumari was 13 cm, followed by Madurai 10 cm, Nagapattinam 9 cm, Dharmapuri and Sivaganga 7 cm each, Erode, Trichy and Salem 6 cm of rainfall each.
