HR&CE State expert committee member held for accepting bribe

TIRUCHY: DVAC sleuths arrested a HR&CE State expert committee member for accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh in Tiruchy on Monday. Since some of the renovation works at Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathy Perumal Temple at Gunaseelam were pending for the last 12 years, a State level expert committee inspected the temple. When Pitchumani Iyengar, the temple’s administrative trustee met one of the authorities, K Moortheeswari, and enquired about the report. But she had demanded Rs 10 lakh to process the issue. She reduced the amount to Rs 5 lakh after bargaining and demanded Rs 1 lakh as advance. Pitchumani approached the DVAC. On Monday Moortheeswari who was caught red-handed while receiving Rs 1 lakh.
