Aadhaar card camps held at TN govt schools

CHENNAI: Government and government-aided students who have taken Aadhar card at the age of 5 years or less are given new cards through the Aadhaar card camps held at schools in the State.

A government teacher of a high school said, “Those students who have taken the Aadhaar cards at the age lower than 5 years are being issued with new cards through fingerprints of the students.”

“As the Aadhaar card is made mandatory for availing schemes and for other government related activities, many students began facing issues due to mistakes such as name and date of birth in the card. Hence, we informed the department about the same to the department asking for correction,” added the teacher.

The Aadhaar camp at the government school has been ongoing since Monday for students of Classes 6 and 12.

Meanwhile, a government school teacher in Egmore said that many students in the school do not hold Aadhaar card and students are facing issues.“Students are often asked for aadhar card in school. During the beginning of the academic year many students however shared that they do not hold the cards. Hence we request the education department to coordinate and conduct the camp at all schools across Tamil Nadu.”
