DMK begins door-to-door campaigning with Cong for Erode East by-polls
Meanwhile, former TNCC chief EVKS Elangonvan on Saturday told media persons that he was not interested in contesting in the by poll and he has suggested his son Sanjay Sampath's name for the same.
CHENNAI: The ruling DMK did not waste any time in commencing its poll works for the February 27 Erode East by poll.
The DMK high command has 'deputed' its senior leaders, state municipal administration minister K N Nehru, who is considered a go-getter among the party functionaries in organizing poll works and party events, to Erode even as ally Congress was deeply engaged in finalizing its candidate for the seat vacated by the party's young MLA Thirumagan Everaa.
Nehru along with Erode based minister Muthusamy, in fact, hit the streets at Periyar Nagar in the constituency.
A jubilant Nehru did not hold back his enthusiasm when he posted photographs of his campaigning in the constituency on his official Twitter handle.
A message posted on the Twitter handle by Nehru said, "As per the order of the CM, I mustered support for the Congress party along with minister Muthusamy in Periyar Nagar."
If sources in Anna Arivalayam are to be believed, the ruling party could depute a few more ministers in the coming days to oversee electioneering works of the crucial by poll which is already touted by the critics as an impending mandate to assess the popularity of the incumbent regime and a show off strength to settle the leadership dispute in the divided AIADMK.
Meanwhile, former TNCC chief EVKS Elangonvan on Saturday told media persons that he was not interested in contesting in the by poll and he has suggested his son Sanjay Sampath's name for the same.
He added that the party high command would take a call on the by-poll candidature.
