Bypoll to be turning point in state politics, says Sengottaiyan

COIMBATORE: Bypoll forErode East Assembly constituency will be a turning point in Tamil Nadu politics, said former AIADMK minister KA Sengottaiyan on Monday.

Claiming that there is a change in mindset of people, Sengottaiyan exuded confidence that the AIADMK will definitely win the by-elections.

“We will prove that Erode East constituency is AIADMK’s iron fort. Similar to the 1972 bypoll in Dindugul, the Erode East Assembly poll will be a turning point in the state politics,” he told reporters after inaugurating works to set up the party’s election office in the constituency.

Stating that the AIADMK candidate for bypoll will be declared by the party’s interim general secretary upon receiving nominations from interested candidates, Sengottaiyan said AIADMK will soon set up a working committee for the bypoll to commence Erode East by-election works.

“Soon the AIADMK functionaries will make door to door visit as part of our campaign. We are hopeful that the Two Leaves symbol will be ours. And the AIADMK, under the leadership of Edappadi K Palaniswami will emerge victorious,” he added.

Responding to a query on deposed AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam announcing his readiness to hold talks with EPS on merger, Sengottaiyan just said, ‘wait and watch what happens.’

He was flanked by few ex-AIADMK MLAs and other party functionaries.
