In a tribute to the master musician, Google on Thursday paid a tribute to him through a doodle on his 245th birthday.

While his exact birthday is still unknown, he is believed to have been born around this time, and was baptised on December 17.

With a puzzle for his fans to piece together, players will have to pick the right composition from a number of sheets he is seen picking up on his way to a concert. The focus is on some of most famous works like Moonlight Sonata and Ode to Joy.

Born in Bonn in 1770, Beethoven showed a keen interest in music at a very young age. At the age of 21, he moved to Austria and became popular as a virtuous pianist. Beethoven’s compositional career is usually divided into early, middle, and late periods. In this scheme, his early period is taken to last until about 1802, the middle period from about 1803 to about 1814, and the late period from about 1815. While he lost his hearing after the age of 30, he is said to have composed some of his best work in the later stages of his life. He died at the age of 58 in Vienna.
