The Galaxy S10 marks the tenth Android flagship for Samsung and occupied centre stage at Samsung’s high-profile ‘Unpacked’ event at San Francisco on February 20. Samsung showed off four variants of the S10, three that consumers can pre-order and a 5G variant with a 6.7-inch display that won’t arrive until Q2 2019.

Samsung has been teasing us with a foldable display for a while now, the Samsung Fold finally brings this cutting-edge innovation to consumers. The Fold, a smartphone and tablet rolled into one, will be available for purchase in the US from April 26; there’s no word yet on India. It sports two displays - a 4.6-inch exterior display (essentially the phone) that opens up to a 7.3-inch that morphs into a tab. Thanks to what Samsung calls ‘App Continuum’, optimised apps (like Facebook and MS Office) automatically merge into a larger screen. The hardware highlights include 12GB of RAM and 512GB of Internal memory. The Fold will set you back by $1980 (about Rs 1.4 lacs).

The S10+ is likely to be the bestseller from the three S10 variants that go on sale immediately. It brings three key updates — there’s the gorgeous Infinity-O display with its unique cut-out for the dual front cam. This 6.4-inch display (1440 x 3040 pixels) crosses the 90% screen: body ratio threshold. The device’s becomes the first smartphone with an ultra-sonic in-display fingerprint sensor that’s a notch above sensors in competing flagships. The S10+ makes huge improvements with the camera — the triple rear cam features a 12MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra-wide lens with a wider field of view. The device’s dual selfie cam combines 10MP lens and an 8MP lens with a depth sensor. Stay tuned for a deep-dive review on this column over the next few weeks as the product hits Indian stores.

Nexstgo PRIMUS NX101

While tablets are great for Content consumption, sometimes you still need a laptop to get the job done. It’s why light-weight laptops that take on the MacBook Air are trending. Nexstgo is the latest global brand to enter this segment with a laptop that weighs 1.3 kg. The PRIMUS NX101 is the lightest in the brand’s portfolio but is certainly not a lightweight in the specs department. The first thing you will notice is the vivid 14-inch FHD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) that is backed by powerful speakers. This one’s geared for video-conferencing.

Cortana (Microsoft’s voice assistant) is baked in and the NX101 offers facial and fingerprint unlock options. You can choose from a host of hardware configurations that include an Intel Core i7 processor and up to 32GB of RAM. There’s a choice of 256GB/512GB SSD storage options. We like the premium brushed aluminium finish and the all-day battery life (about 12 hours in our usage) that makes it the perfect productivity notebook that is also geared for entertainment on the go. (Rs 80,990 onwards)
